How to Apply

We Can't Wait to See You this Summer!

Our Summer at UC Davis programs are academically rigorous and designed for talented, motivated, high-achieving high school students—from rising freshmen to rising seniors. Though there are no set minimum requirements (such as a minimum GPA), your application materials should demonstrate strong initiative and academic ability, and the maturity necessary for participating in a residential program on a university campus.

We're looking for students who have a passion for learning and who will make valuable intellectual and social contributions to the program. In making admissions decisions, we evaluate all of your application materials to ensure we have a well-rounded picture of who you are and what you can achieve in the program.

The program does not offer academic credit.

Applying to the Program

To apply, please complete the application form and submit the following materials electronically through our online application system. Your application fee is due along with your completed application and materials.

Your required application materials will include:

Short Answer Questions

Please respond to the following short-answer questions in a single document. Your responses should be limited to approximately 250 words each. We know that's short but don't worry—your Personal Statement will provide another opportunity for us to get to know you.

  • Question 1: Tell us about why you selected the Summer at UC Davis program area that you chose. How does it match up with any previous experience or future goals? What do you hope to get out of your participation in the program?
  • Question 2: Tell us about one or two of the interests and activities that are most important to you. What motivates you to pursue them? How much time do you devote to them? How have they made a difference in your life?

Optional Materials (Limit of 3 optional uploads)

  • Personal Statement: The personal statement is your way of introducing yourself to us. We'd love to know who you are (beyond your transcripts) and why you want to be part of the Summer at UC Davis Pre-College Program. No need for a novel—two pages is fine. (Limit: 1200 words)
  • High School Transcripts: Unofficial transcripts are acceptable. If you would like to submit multiple transcripts, combine all transcripts into a single file for upload with your most recent transcript on the first page.
  • Other Optional Materials: Feel free to submit test scores, academic writing samples, or other materials that you think will help give us a clearer picture of who you are as a person and as a student.

Your application will not be reviewed until all required materials are received. Your application fee must be paid in order to complete the submission.

Admissions decisions are made on a first-come, first-served basis. Once your application is complete, it generally takes about 10 business days for an admissions decision to be made.

We look forward to learning more about you!
